A Very Special Prayer Request

Pray, Updates

September 10, 2012

We write to you this morning with heavy hearts and a real desire that you pray for us.  Yesterday, our ministry partners, Pablo and Lourdes, announced that it was their last Sunday in Primero de Mayo and that they are definitively resigning from the ministry.  Their 17 year-old daughter, Estefany, is four months pregnant.  The father is a high school boyfriend who is not a believer. Pablo and Lourdes have been distancing themselves from the ministry for some time now, but with this announcement they felt it best to make a clean break from the ministry in order to spend time together as a family and receive counseling. They will be moving to Lourdes’ brothers house this week. They will be returning to their home church in El Quinche to attend services and receive counseling from Pastor Wilmer and his wife.
The news was a total shock to most of the congregation, so please pray for the people of our church as they process this news and adjust to not having Pablo in leadership.  Many of the church members have already said they are taking this as a call to greater unity and greater commitment to fill the gap the Aguirre family has left behind.  This news comes at an especially hard time since the inauguration of the new church building is planned for the 29th and 30th of this month.  That event will now have a bitter-sweet feel with the absence of one of the founders of the ministry.
Please pray for the rest of the church leaders as we adjust to this new ministry dynamic.  Dave will be taking over the preaching duties full-time and training several other men in the church to begin preaching as well.  Pablo’s oldest son, Edison, will be taking over the responsibility for the praise and worship.  Several of the deacons have already offered to help in any additional ministry needs as well.
Pray also for our family as we adjust to the ministry without the Aguirre family.  They have been our ministry partners for more than six years.  We began this ministry together.  We watched as God took a simple kids club and grew it into a fully mature church family.  The ministry will continue to grow and God will give the increase.
Pray for Pablo and Lourdes as they face several new hurdles.  Pablo will be looking for a job in Guayllabamba.  Lourdes will be working with her sister who also lives there.  Pray for Estefany as she confronts the last 5 months of her pregnancy.  She will also have to confront the new reality of her life situation.  Most importantly, pray for spiritual healing for the entire family.  Pray that God uses this to deepen their commitment to Him and His Word and that His name would be glorified through this time of deep trial.
Thank you for your continual support for our ministry.  We are grateful to have you on the team.
In service to the King,
Dave, on behalf of the whole Cayambe team
