2017 was one of the most challenging years of our ministry. It was a year of victories and defeats. It was a difficult year as we dealt with the reality of youth who we have worked with for years suffer the consequences for their sinful choices as we dealt with six unplanned pregnancies. They simply could not resist the temptations of a world where half of all births in the hospitals of Ecuador are mothers under 18. We rejoice for those who have repented and are in the process of restoration to fellowship and we pray for those who are still living their lives in rebellion.
In the midst of trial have come great victories. We baptized 7 young people this year. Two new families have joined the church. Our youth group won first place in Bible Quizzing in Youth in Action. 3 people came to faith in Christ this year as well. We have seen God work in amazing ways in the lives of many people this year. We can’t wait to see how God continues to transform hearts in 2018.
We are so grateful for the way God has provided for us this year through your partnership in the ministry. It’s been an incredible journey together with you as we faced each defeat and each triumph that 2017 had to offer. We received so many notes of encouragement, so many letters, and many special gifts that allowed our family to continue in ministry this year. We are grateful for every one of you and your partnership with us as we continue to bring Christ to Cayambe.
A Blessed Christmas Season
We had a wonderful Christmas season this year. Each group in the church had their Christmas celebration. We hosted the ladies’ group and the youth group at our home. The men decided to have a barbecue night at the church. We had 140 people attend our Christmas program at the church. Many of those who came were unbelievers from the community. The children presented a skit and song, and the youth group presented a shadow theater drama and song. The Gospel was preached and many were reached. We couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas time this year. We even enjoyed a visit from Dave’s uncle and family in the middle of it all. New Year Video
Our New Year’s Celebration was the first time it rained all night. In spite of the weather, we still had around 100 people from outside of the church come to our festival celebration. We couldn’t do our traditional fireworks display or burn the effigy of the old year, but we were able to show a video Gospel presentation to everyone who attended. Please pray for those who came to the church and heard the Good News. The video above is a great summary of four days of preparation for our biggest event of the year.
